Questions we get a lot.

My partner isn't sure about this. What then?

That is most families. One person is driving it, the other is doing the math on what could go wrong. Keana was the second person on our first move, so she talks to a lot of spouses who feel that way. Bring them on the call. Nobody here is going to push you toward a move that is wrong for your family.

What does the move itself actually cost?

Plan on $5,000 to $10,000 for a family of four. Flights, visas, replacing what you do not bring, and housing, which here usually means first month plus two months deposit. The spread depends on where you land and how much you ship versus rebuy. We build your real number on the call.

Is Vietnam actually safe and affordable for a family?

Yes to both, which is a big part of why we stayed. Our family of four lives here comfortably for a fraction of what the same life cost in the States, and we have never felt unsafe in Ho Chi Minh City. International school is the line item that surprises people most.

Why should I trust you with this?

Honest answer: we are early. A handful of families so far, not hundreds. What we do have is two moves done with two kids and a pet, a registered business in Vietnam, IATA and CLIA accreditation, and most of the process documented publicly including the parts that went badly. If you want a decade of client reviews, that is not us yet. If you want someone who was in the immigration line last year, it is.

What actually happens after I book?

How We Got Here

I didn't come from a family.
I built one.

This part is Marcellous talking. Keana has her own version of it, and you will hear that on the call. I post most of this as we go because I think people considering this deserve to see what it actually looks like, not just the parts that make a good post.
01 · Where it started

Foster care

I grew up in foster care. Nobody sat me down and told me what was possible, so I worked it out myself. That is the whole reason this company exists.

02 · The training

The Navy

Served until I was medically retired. The discipline does not go away, and neither does knowing there is more out there. That made settling back into a normal American life harder than it should have been.

03 · 2025 · The first move

Mérida, Mexico

Keana and I decided together, packed what we could, and took the two kids and the cat. Nobody handed us a guide. Residency paperwork, finding a place to live without the language, getting the kids into school, finding doctors. She ran most of the household side of that while I fought the paperwork. Slower and messier than anyone online makes it sound.

04 · 2026 · Where we are now

Vietnam

This is where I turned it into something real and registered it as Beyond Borders Traveling Co., Ltd. Lawyers, bank accounts, the full legal mess of starting a company in a country that isn't yours. All of it is on the channels, as it happened, including the parts where I got it wrong. You can go back and watch us figure it out.

Grew up without a real home. Built one anyway, across three countries. Now I help other families do the same thing.
